THE
AMERICAN ORIENT EXPRESS
"North America's Only Private Luxury Train"
departs February through November on 8 to 11 day journeys in
the U.S. and Canada. This train features beautifully
restored vintage cars from the great steamliners of the
1940's and '50's, including the observation car from the
20th Century Limited and a club car where a pianist performs
on the baby grand after dinner each evening. Regional
dining is featured.
The train's schedules feature
pauses for off-train sightseeing excursions, an experience
enhanced by distinguished guest lecturers. Itineraries
include the Antebellum South, National Parks of the West and
the Pacific Coast Explorer. Also offered is the Great
Transcontinental Rail Journey and the Great Trans-Canada
Rail Journey.

THE
ROCKY MOUNTAINEER
"The Most Spectacular Train Trip in the
World" Take a two-day journey through the heart
of the Canadian Rockies, entirely in daylight. You overnight
off the train with hotel accommodations included in your
fare. Travel from Vancouver to either Jasper, Banff or
Calgary and vice versa. The trains operate from April
through October with two classes of service offered.
We recommend the deluxe Gold Leaf Service, where every seat
is in the private glass-topped dome car for optimal viewing.
Downstairs, the luxurious Gold Leaf dining room features
regional cuisine created by onboard chefs. Rocky Mountaineer
Railtours offers a variety of vacation packages--both
escorted and independent rail/drive--in connection with the
train journey. The packages feature the Canadian

THE
VENICE SIMPLON ORIENT EXPRESS
"The Aristocrat Among Trains" This
beautifully restored train, celebrated in literature and
cinema, travels over its traditional London-Paris-Venice
route twice weekly in each direction from March through
November. The luxurious British Pullman day train
provides service from London to the English Channel
port. Across the channel, the Continental train
includes sleeping cars with private cabins, a bar car and
dining cars, all restored to their original art-deco
magnificence. French chefs provide a menu worthy of
the finest restaurants. The routing is via Paris,
Switzerland and Austria. Total journey time is
approximately 1 1/2 days with one overnight on the train.
Travel is permitted between
some intermediate points. Alternate routings and

THE
ROYAL SCOTSMAN
"An Exclusive Country House Hotel on Wheels"
Just 36 passengers enjoy this train, which revives the
romantic age of railway travel. The dining and
observation cars are beautifully appointed and the cuisine
is top-notch. All meals, beverages, visits and
gratuities are included in the cost of your passage.
Each State Cabin is equipped with lower beds and private
bathroom. For the additional comfort of its guests,
the train stops each night at a quiet siding. The
train's four and two night journeys through Scotland include
off-train sightseeing by private coach. Departures are
scheduled April through November. |
THE
EASTERN & ORIENTAL EXPRESS
"A Train for the
Topics" Journey between Singapore and Bangkok in
air conditioned and luxurious carriages. An open-sided
Observation Carriage allows you to enjoy the lush scenery to
its best advantage. You can also relax in the bar car
and feast on delicious Eurasian cuisine in the opulent
dining car. The three-day journey includes two
overnights on the train, with an excursion off the train to
Penang on the second day. There are usually weekly
departures in each direction year round.

THE
GREAT SOUTH PACIFIC EXPRESS
"Australia's Own
Orient Express" The GSPE travels the length of
Australia's Eastern seaboard--between Cairns, Brisbane and
Sydney. The trip may be taken for a sector, or for the
complete journey. Off-train excursions to the Great
Barrier Reef and a cable car ride over the treetops of a
tropical rainforest are highlights of this voyage. An
open-air observation platform is on the rear of the
train. There are several lounges for relaxation and
the dining car features the finest Australian wines. |
